Diocesan Strategy

The Diocesan Strategy

The Bishop, Bishop’s Council and Diocesan Synod have agreed that from 2006-2009 we should have a clear focus for church life in the Peterborough Diocese.

As a diocese inspired by God's passion for the world, our strategy is to build welcoming Christian communities throughout Northamptonshire, Rutland and Peterborough that are:

Worship centred
Mission shaped
Releasing ministry and
Transforming the world

An annual focus

Each year between 2006 and 2010 we will focus in turn one of the four core values in the context of the whole strategy.

2006 - Building worship-centred Christian communities that together offer a greater variety and quality of worship opportunities. Resource papers on developing our worship are available via the Resources for worship page of the website.

2007 - Building mission-shaped Christian communities that are developing regular programmes of outreach with the Gospel. Resources for mission are available via the Mission pages of the website.

2008 - Building Christian communities that release members’ ministry and are calling and nurturing members for active ministry and mission. Resources for services on the theme of releasing ministry are now available.

2009 - Building Christian communities that are transforming the world and are becoming involved in community and global projects to address human need at all levels.

2010 - A diocese still inspired by God’s passion for the world and so looking prayerfully ahead to what God may require of us next.
