Communion before confirmation

Introduction

As many as 20% of parishes in the Peterborough Diocese now welcome children to Communion before confirmation, 5% above the national average. This means that, with the permission of the Bishop and a good programme of preparation, admitted children can participate fully in the Eucharist.

2006 Regulations

In 2006 new national Regulations for Communion before Confirmation were adopted. These are now part of the Bishops’ Regulations in the Peterborough Diocese. Rona Orme, Children’s Missioner, has produced new material to help parishes introduce Communion before Confirmation, particularly for children.
