Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser

Your role will be to work with the full time Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser in ensuring that the Diocese maintains the highest standards in the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Accountable to the Bishop of Peterborough through the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, you will take the lead in the development and implementation of the Diocesan Safeguarding training strategy in line with the Safeguarding learning and Development Practice Guidance issued by the National Safeguarding Team. You will also assist in allocated cases of allegations against church officers, and give advice to parish officers who are concerned about the welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult.  You will provide a point of contact and liaison for statutory agencies and ensure the correct policies are followed within the church.


Person Specification:
Possessing a social work qualification or qualifications and experience as a police officer, probation officer or similar working within a multi-agency framework. You will have experience of delivering training, excellent presentation skills and good interpersonal skills allied to strong emotional intelligence. You will have knowledge of current legislation relating to safeguarding practice, and demonstrate a good understanding of the structure and operation of statutory and voluntary bodies involved in safeguarding.  It would be helpful to have knowledge of the Church of England and its structures. You will need effective organisational skills, the ability to network and build alliances and good IT skills and familiarity with Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, combined with sensitivity and discretion.  You will need to have excellent report writing skills and develop effective Risk Management Plans where required.

The post will require work across the diocese, at the diocesan offices in Peterborough and Northampton and may present some opportunities for working from home.  A full driving licence and access to a car will be required.

Salary £34,000 p.a.

Children and Families Worker 

A rare and exciting opportunity is available at Holy Trinity Deanshanger for a temporary Children and families worker. This post would be suitable for someone who is looking for a new challenge, as training will be given, or for an experienced Children's worker who would like to add additional hours to their existing role.

We will be entering an Interregnum in September and we therefore feel we should wait until a new incumbent is appointed before advertising a permanent role. We would like to have someone to work alongside our current worker from the start of July so there was a good period of handover and to be in post for six months with the possibility of it being extended.

9 hours per week. £15 per hour.
