The Best Idea in the World
Mark Greene explores the dynamic difference that a fresh look at Jesus' familiar instruction can make to almost any decision we make -- in any area of life-- from buying a microwave to choosing a job, from church to chat-rooms, from parenting to politics, from where we put the TV to where we live. Full of humour, insight, down-to-earth stories and up-to-date research, Mark explores how putting relationships first in our thinking and living is not only a liberating basis for our personal lives but a robust and dynamic foundation for our society and our global community. £5-99.
In addition to the Fresh Expressions website
http://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/ , an additional resource is 'Share' at
http://www.sharetheguide.org/. This aims to offer resources and a forum to those involved in Fresh Expressions - so it is possible to include provisional and 'kite flying' ideas.

Confident Christianity
Have you ever been at your desk, in the staff room or out on a job, when in the course of conversation a colleague asks why the innocent suffer? Perhaps one of the most paralysing fears that stop us from sharing our faith is the idea that our friends will be full of impossible questions that we can't even begin to answer. Well, Confident Christianity, devised to help you answer the most commonly asked questions, may be a course for you! Developed by Christian Medical Fellowship, this day course is applicable to all workplace Christians & is touring the UK. For more info: www.transformworkuk.org or email alexbunn@btinternet.com
Forward in Mission is a book of almost fifty pages with articles by ten Christian leaders within the Diocese of Peterborough, published recently by the Peterborough Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship. Each chapter features individual testimonies and experience of ministry, offering ideas and advice that can be used by churches of any tradition. Lord Brian Mawhinney has written the foreword, saying: “Here are down to earth examples of ministry to young and old; town, country and housing estate. Christian men and women The result is new life and spiritual growth.” Requests for copies can be e-mailed to admin@moultonchurch.co.uk. Individual copies can then be obtained by sending a £1 coin and a stamped addressed A5 envelope, or people can be invoiced for orders of a minimum of 10 copies (with the charge for ten copies being £12.50 including postage & packing).

A few reminders of useful websites:
If you have not looked at the reJesus website recently, it is well worth checking out - numerous self-contained short 'modules' which (in various combinations) offer visual material / soundtracks / comment / reflection opportunities. There is very likely material you could signpost in response to questions from those looking for non-patronising resources for developing faith - or maybe some 'modules' might at times be suggested as a possible 'homework task' exercise for a lay course / group.http://www.rejesus.co.uk/.

The website of the Church Army's research centre gives access to a variety of useful information / reminders and links. For example, there is a section on work with older people. http://www.churcharmy.org.uk/sheffieldcentre/
http://www.unlock-urban.org.uk/resources.php UNLOCK's work has focused on work with people now described as "text-shy". It's worth looking at the information on 'Unlock's approach in brief', which illustrates how they approach sessions / bible studies etc in a slightly different way from many. Their resources - quite a few downloadable - aim to encourage work in this way.
Tailor made communications training programme is now available online at www.commstraining.cofe.anglican.org New for 2010 is 'Get an effective website', which offers a website clinic where delegates can get personalised feedback and tips on their church's website. New media courses: 'Better blogging' and 'Connect with your community online' have been revised, in order to allow for a more in-depth look at these topics. And, if you need to give your magazine a new lease of life, practise your TV and radio interview skills or brush up on your public speaking, visit the website above for more information, or call 020 7898 1465.
