Farm Crisis Network - Helpline number change
Note that the Farm Crisis Network has changed its Helpline number to 0845 367 9990. This will mean that callers will only be charged for a local rate call, rather than the previous national rate. FCN's confidential Helpline is staffed by FCN volunteers from 7am - 11pm every day of the year. Talking with someone who understands farming but is not directly involved in their situation can be a real support and, when appropriate, callers are offered a visit from an FCN volunteer.
Rural Post Offices
Churches in rural areas are taking initiatives both locally and nationally to support the rural post office network. It is acknowledged that the network in its present form is unsustainable and the churches are keen to work in partnership with the Post Office to explore creative solutions. More

Faith in Rural Communities Research
Faith in Rural Communities: Contributions of Social Capital to Community Vibrancy is the result of an 18 month study, supported by Defra carried out by Coventry University in partnership with the Arthur Rank Centre and the Church of England National Rural Officer. Vibrant rural communities are sustained and enhanced by the informal and individual actions of people of faith. These often small and unseen actions benefit the whole community.
