Insurance Policies
There have been numerous changes to insurance policies in recent years. It is vitally important that you are aware that, whatever you are doing with young people, is covered by your parish insurance policy. To this extent, is your Church Council aware of your activities and have they taken note of them during a Church Council meeting

Youth worker investigation
Richard Lowe-Lauri has put together an absolutely brilliant youth worker investigation for the group of churches he belongs to in the far north of the Diocese. If your church is considering whether or not it should employ a youth worker and what are the pluses and minuses, then Paul’s the man to talk to, but Richard’s work is enormously helpful in enabling the thinking process to go on.
Full-time youth workers
It is vitally important, if you are a full-time or a paid youth worker and you are being given housing as part of your package, that you check out the tax implications. It seems to be a very patchy response across the country as to what the rights and wrongs are but some people have been charged enormous amounts of money for having a house supplied. Please, please, please, if you would like more information, contact Paul or a suitable financial advisor with experience in this vitally important and complicated area.
Giving – are your young people giving to your church?
It sounds like a strange idea but we encourage adults to give a proportion of their wealth from God so why not encourage your young people. Much of the rest of the church would be delighted if out young people could be seen to be giving something back rather, as Paul has heard on occasion, take, take, take. There are loads of opportunities for giving, particularly for younger tax payers who can, of course, gift aid their giving but, also, to do some fundraising for the church. Paul has loads of ideas and information and also a new paper on how to engage with young people about how to give to their churches. If you would like more information, contact Paul.

If you would like further information, both about their work and their huge success over recent years, then contact Mark Budner at Christ the Carpenter, Chestnut Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough.

National Occupational Standards
