Could your youth group help to host Christian Aid's acoustic tour?
From 11-17 May local songwriters Pete McAllen and Sam Loaker will be raising awareness of Christian Aid's work and encouraging young people to give to relief and development in over 50 countries. They are looking for church youth groups that would like to host one of these gigs during Christian Aid Week (11th-17th May). The church needs to bring 50 people minimum to their event (some youth groups have decided to club together). We ask the church to provide a space to play, promotion and tickets sales (and perhaps hospitality). Christian Aid will provide all tickets, flyers and posters. Tickets will be sold at £3 each. For more information please contact Christian Aid: 01603 620051 or email pmcallen@christain-aid.org

Tea and Toast with the Archbishop
At the end of last year, the Archbishop of Canterbury invited three Kentish teenagers to his home in Canterbury for tea and toast, and to answer their questions for youth magazine ‘Oi!’, ranging from his views on abortion to what he does in his free time. Funny side of faith
If you haven't heard the one about the clean comedy club at Stirchley, Birmingham, run by the Bishop of Birmingham’s Adviser for Youth Ministry, Helen Tomblin, the chances are you've missed the opportunity to enjoy an evening of inoffensive entertainment at its very best. Helen features in the latest of a new podcasts produced by the Church of England Communications Office and Premier Radio, which aim to showcase some of the people who work across the church’s diverse ministries.

The Children’s Plan
The Children's Plan has been produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which aims to "make this country the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up". It affects young people as well as children and is intended to offer a long term vision to improve schools, and a step-change in the way parents and families are supported to deal with the challenges of young people. Measures include new funding to improve the quality and range of youth facilities, a greater focus on schools working in partnership with other agencies to contribute to all aspects of children’s lives and a package of measures to tackle risky behaviour in early teenage years.

Youth Pilgrimage – Megabite 2008
Every year the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham holds a Youth Pilgrimage for young people aged 11 and above. It is a very special few which comprises worship, prayer, Bible study, fellowship and fun. While it takes place at an ancient site of pilgrimage, it aims to be a shamelessly contemporary youth event which helps young people to find and live out their faith in the modern world. The worship makes use of state of the art technology and the music and dance is led by CJM, an incredibly creative group of musicians and liturgists. The teaching ministry is led by Bishop Lindsay Urwin. The worship is catholic in feel and focuses strongly on the Eucharist. If you would like to find out more about the Pilgrimage in 2008, please visit www.megabite2008.org where you can also download a booking form.
