On 26 July 2026, the Revd Joe Griffiths will be toeing the line at the Outlaw Triathlon in Nottingham which is made up of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run. It’s commonly referred to as the Ironman and will be one of the toughest challenges he's ever undertaken. Joe is taking part to raise money for Chapel Recovery, part of The Chapel Gym Corby.
The Chapel Gym Corby is a community gym run by St John's Church Corby. Primarily, they serve the town by providing a first-class gym facility at affordable prices. Alongside this, they deliver initiatives that support the mental and spiritual wellbeing of people in Corby. For example, working in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council to provide supported accommodation for three individuals.
Recently, in response to a temporary gap in local drug and alcohol recovery provision, The Chapel Gym Corby launched Chapel Recovery. Chapel Recovery supports people in Corby who are seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. In just six weeks, they have engaged with over 30 people in recovery, supporting them in their drug and alcohol desistance journey.
The Chapel Gym are committed to this work for the long term and to ensure they can deliver it effectively, they have taken on three new members of staff who are experienced specialists in this field.
The Revd Joe says "We are confident that God has called us to this work — but we now need to secure sustainable, long-term funding. If you feel able, please consider supporting this vital work by donating to my GoFundMe page. Thank you!"
