The consecration of Alex Hughes to be Bishop of Brixworth by the Archbishop of Canterbury took place on Thursday 16 July at Westminster Abbey.
The moving service was attended by friends and family alongside thirteen fellow bishops and representatives from the dioceses of Peterborough and Ely. The sermon was preached by the Reverend Canon Jeremy Morris and the readings were given by Gill Hughes and Thomas Hughes.
Speaking about the day Bishop Alex said; 'I am deeply grateful for all the gifts of my day of consecration - the love and prayers of so many dear friends and family, the support of the dioceses of Ely and Peterborough, including a group of young people from Bishop Stopford school, and the extraordinary privilege of being called to serve as a bishop in God's church. It was a joyful and inspiring way to begin this new ministry.'

With experience in parish ministry and varying leadership roles in different dioceses, Bishop Alex will bring deep wisdom and prayerfulness to the Diocese of Peterborough.
