Independent Audits

Peterborough Diocese Safeguarding Audit

As part of a programme covering the whole Church of England, safeguarding arrangements in the Diocese of Peterborough underwent independent audit from 23 to 25 February 2016. The audit report is available for download here. As well as commending existing good practice, in a series of detailed recommendations the auditors suggest ways in which safeguarding arrangements within the Diocese can be further developed and improved.

The Bishop of Peterborough commented: “We are fortunate in this Diocese to have a Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, Garry Johnson, who works tirelessly to ensure that safeguarding is understood as being at the heart of our calling as Christians. I am very pleased that this report recognises the quality of his work.

"As a Diocese, we continue to strive for excellence in safeguarding, and I welcome the report’s findings. In particular, my senior colleagues and I will be giving careful attention to the auditors’ recommendations in order to strengthen and enhance our current practice and procedures.”

The Diocese would like to record its thanks to the auditors for their insights, and for the open and constructive way in which the audit was approached.
