GoHealth Community

The fourth cohort of our highly successful course The Introduction to the Healing Ministry has a few places left. The aim of the course is to raise confidence in the healing ministry by looking at the foundations of the ministry, examining good practice, looking at the modern world into which this ministry is offered and having space to reflect on personal experience and context. As churches emerge from the immediate crisis of covid-19 and continue to serve traumatised and recovering communities, never has the healing ministry of the Christian church been more vital. Not only can it offer comfort and solace to individuals, churches can be hubs for healing for the whole community as a clear outworking of the call of Jesus to grow the church and to heal. By engaging in the healing ministry, Christians have the opportunity to make a tangible difference at a time of real need. The course takes places online through three 2 hour workshops and also forms the training for the bronze tier of the Healthy Healing Hub project.

Secondly, we are running an online workshop on Perspectives of shame and the church as we emerge from lockdown with The Revd. Dr. Sally Nash. This online workshop, drawing on empirical research, will explore a variety of perspectives on shame and the church including definitions of shame, ways in which people experience shame in relation to church, how covid may have contributed to shame. We will also explore ways in which churches can be places of healing from shame.

In addition, the GoHealth Community offers discounts at many events, monthly resource bundles including contemplative films and blogs, an online training course called Learning to Heal worth £50, and online community all for only £4 per month. The aim of this community is to educate and support people in the healing ministry in a multifaceted way. We also run a free podcast, the GoHealth Podcast, which explores the healing ministry through interviews – recent episodes include me chatting to a theological educator who was nearly killed in a mountaineering accident, Prof John Stackhouse the Canadian theologian on a post covid theology for the church and the artist Peter Walker.
