Appointments and retirements

The Bishop of Peterborough has announced the following appointments and retirements:

 

2020

March

The Revd Paula York, Rector of Castle Ashby, Denton, Grendon, Whiston and Yardley Hastings has been appointed Interim Incumbent of All Saints and All Hallows Wellingborough.  She will be licensed by +John, Bishop of Brixworth on 19 April 2020.

The Revd Stevie Cross, Rector of Aston-le-Walls, Boddington, Byfield, Eydon and Woodford Halse, is to retire on 31 May 2020.

The Revd Stephen Burrow has been appointed Rural Dean of Daventry, replacing the Revd Canon Mary Garbutt, who is stepping down. He will be licensed by +John, Bishop of Brixworth, on 7th April 2020. This is in addition to Stephen’s current roles and responsibilities. His contact details will remain unchanged.

 

February

The Revd Nick Wills, Vicar of St Andrews Kettering, has been appointed Rector of St Peter Lutton Place, Edinburgh. He will be instituted on 28 April 2020.

The Revd Michael Moore has been appointed Rural Dean of Peterborough, replacing the Revd Canon Ian Black, who is stepping down, and The Revd Colin Hurst and Revd Jackie Bullen have been appointed Assistant Rural Deans of Peterborough. They will be licensed by +Donald, Bishop of Peterborough, on 12th March 2020.
This is in addition to their current roles and responsibilities. Their contact details will remain unchanged.

 

January 

The Revd Canon Bill Croft, Vicar of Bretton, is to retire on 1 July 2020, and has been awarded the title of Canon Emeritus of Peterborough Cathedral from this date.

The Revd Tom McLean, Assistant Curate of Higham Ferrers w Chelveston, has been appointed Chaplain of King’s College Cambridge from 1 January 2020.

The Revd Tim Fernyhough, Rector of Blakesley cum Woodend, Adstone, Farthingstone, Lichborough & Maidford, is to retire on 31 March 2020.

The Revd Jennifer Paddison, has been appointed as Chaplain of The King’s (The Cathedral) School.  She will be licensed by Bishop John on 27 January 2020. Jennifer’s contact details are 01733 751541, paddison.j@kings.peterborough.sch.uk

The Revd David Walsh, The Revd Dr Carys Walsh and The Revd Alice Watson, have been appointed to the parish of All Saints Kettering as Priest in Charge, Assistant Priest, and Assistant Curate respectively.  They were licensed by Bishop John, Bishop of Brixworth, on 22 December.  This is in addition to their current roles and responsibilities and their contact details remain unchanged.

The Revd Chris Peck, Rector of Guilsborough & Hollowell & Cold Ashby & Cottesbrooke with Great Creaton & Thornby & Ravensthorpe & Spratton is to retire from this role on 31 March 2020.  Chris will be licensed by Bishop Donald, Bishop of Peterborough, on 8 April as Lay Vocations Officer for the Northampton Archdeaconry. The Revd Andy Byfield, has been appointed Assistant Rural Dean of Greater Northampton with immediate effect.  This is in addition to Andy’s current roles and responsibilities and his contact details remain unchanged.

December

November

The Revd Pauline Tate, Assistant Priest of Irthlingborough with Great Addington with Little Addington & Woodford has retired on 21 November 2019.  Her contact details remain unchanged.

The Revd Carolyn Oley, has been appointed Rural Dean of Brackley.  She will be commissioned by +Donald, Bishop of Peterborough, on 8 January 2020.  This is in addition to Carolyn’s current roles and responsibilities and her contact details will remain unchanged.

The Revd Jenny Opperman, has been appointed Associate Priest of Peterborough Cathedral.  She will be licensed to this role by +John, Bishop of Brixworth, on 17 December 2019.  This is in addition to Jenny’s current roles and responsibilities and her contact details will remain unchanged.

The Revd Geoff Moore, is to retire as Assistant Priest of Aston-le-Walls, Byfield, Boddington, Eydon and Woodford Halse on 31 January 2020.

The Revd Craig Shaw, Vicar of Essington, Featherstone and Shareshill in the Diocese of Lichfield, has been appointed Chaplain of Northampton General Hospital.  He will be licensed to this role by +John, Bishop of Brixworth, on 9 December 2019. The Revd Melvyn Pereira, Vicar of Gleneagles, is to retire on 30 September 2020.

The Revd Mike Burton, Rector of Roade, Ashton, Collingtree, Courteenhall & Hartwell is to retire on 29 February 2020.

September

The Ven David Painter will be licensed by Bishop John, Bishop of Brixworth, as Assistant Priest in the Deaneries of Brackley and Towcester on 30 September. There are no changes to David’s contact details.

The Revd Chris Youngman, has been appointed Rural Dean of Higham, replacing the Revd Canon Stephen Prior.  He will be licensed by +Donald on 1 October 2019.  This is in addition to Chris’ other roles and responsibilities.  His contact details remain unchanged.

The Revd Jo Saunders, has been appointed Interim Priest of Ryhall, Carlby and Essendine.  She was licensed by +John, Bishop of Brixworth, on 1 September 2019. Jo’s contact details remain unchanged.

The Revd Chris Pearson, has been appointed Assistant Priest of Northampton Emmanuel.  He will be licensed by +Ed Condry, Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Peterborough on 15th September.  This is in addition to Chris’ current role as Chaplain for Retired Clergy and Clergy Widow(er)s in the deaneries of Greater Northampton, Wellingborough and Brixworth.

The Revd Chrys Tremththanmor,  Associate Vicar of Abington is stepping down from this role on 24 July and being licensed as Assistant to the Rural Dean of Greater Northampton and Assistant to the Rural Dean of Wellingborough, by Bishop Donald, in the midday Eucharist at Bouverie Court. 

This is in additional to Chrys’ ongoing responsibility as Clergy Continuing Ministerial Development Officer.  Her contact details remain unchanged.
