Understanding Christianity Day 3

The resource called Understanding Christianity: Text Impact Connections, offers an approach to teaching and learning about Christianity with units of work and supporting resources from EYFS to Year 9. It was launched at Lambeth Palace on 26th May 2016 and has been extremely well received since then with over 95% of Diocesan schools having completed the training.

Understanding Christianity sets the bar for the quality of teaching and learning about Christianity in our schools and academies. It reinforces the messages we have been giving over the last few years about ‘digging deeper’ and engaging children and young people with the big ideas and concepts of the Christian faith. The teaching approach is one of theological enquiry, and the units of work support both continuity and progression.

The Resources

The original resources issued to schools who trained between 2016 and 2019 are no longer available due to production costs.  Instead a new more slimmed down resource pack will be available and, once trained, the full resources will be available online.

Understanding Christianity takes place over 3 days. On Day One the RE Subject Leaders will receive the resources to support implementation. Following this, participants must attend a Day Two and Day Three Encounter day - non attendance will result in a charge being made.  It is not possible to attend Days Two and Three without attendance on Day One. All sessions will take place at the Diocese of Peterborough Education Office, Bouverie Court, Bedford Road, Northampton, NN4 7YD.

Day 1 will be held on Tuesday 12 November 2019 from 9.30am – 3.30pm

Day 2 will be held on Tuesday 14 January 2020 from 9.30am – 3.30pm

Day 3 will be held on Tuesday 24 March 2020 from 9.30am – 3.30pm

Tuesday 24 March 2020

09:30am - 03:30pm

The Diocesan Education Offices, Bouverie Court, Unit 1, 6 The Lakes, Bedford Road, Northampton NN4 7YD

Entry details:

Diocesan schools with a Service Level Agreement will receive the three training day encounters as part of their SLA (FOR ONE DELEGATE).  If the school does not have the previous resources, then a charge (amount to be confirmed) will be made to cover the cost of the resource.  For schools without a SLA and all other schools and academies, the costs will still be heavily subsidised by the Diocese at £200 per delegate which includes the three training day encounters and refreshments, with an additional charge (amount to be confirmed) to cover the cost of the resource.
