Headteachers' Conference - Leading with Faith, Hope and Love

Leading with Faith, Hope and Love. 

9.15am Opening worship – ‘It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming’ – Reflections on Leading with Faith, Hope and Love

Peter Cantley, Diocesan Director of Education, will lead us in worship with Archdeacon Richard Ormston, Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, Peter French, Deputy Diocesan Director of Education, and Jane Lewis, Assistant Diocesan Director of Education.

9.45am Leading The Development of Excellent Teaching and Learning and Bringing The Best Out of Teachers

CEO of the Mossbourne Federation, Peter Hughes, will talk about how you can improve teaching and learning at your school. He will discuss a proven observation structure that’s had outstanding results in improving the quality of teaching across the Mossbourne Federation. He will also show you how you can use this to improve the standard of teaching delivered by your teachers. During this session Peter will also explain the importance of having high quality information to hand to improve student outcomes.

10.30am MORNING BREAK

10.45am Leading with Faith

National Children and Youth Adviser for the Church of England, Mary Hawes, will address the theme of ‘leading with faith’ in a church school. She will explore ways headteachers can become confident and effective spiritual and faith leaders of a church school community, and the challenges when personal integrity mean the role may need to be more focused on enabling, facilitating and encouraging the leadership of others.

11.30am Leading with Hope

Deputy Chief Education Officer for the Church of England, Andy Wolfe, will take us from the theological foundations for hope to the outworking of this in a church school leadership role, and bring in some feedback from school leaders involved in peer support networks, whilst also sharing the future aspirations and plans of the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership.

12.15pm LUNCH BREAK

1.15pm Leading with Love

Rt Revd Mike Harrison, Bishop of Dunwich, will explain the practices leaders can foster to embody leading with love and how leaders can cultivate a loving culture.

2.00pm AFTERNOON BREAK

2.15pm Leading with Faith, Hope and Love – Life Stories from a Lifetime of Leadership

Revd Dr Tony Campolo, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, will join us from the USA via Zoom, to share life stories of people leading with faith, hope and love; showing how a Christian education can be transformative for individuals, organisations and whole societies.
