Music for Mission and Ministry

Music for Mission and Ministry offers training for leaders of worship, both lay and ordained, and church musicians. The course uses a ‘blended learning’ approach over three days, combining tutor-led sessions, supporting online media and pdf handouts.

Led by Revd Helen Bent, RSCM Head of Ministerial Training in partnership with Praxis with Jonathan Robinson, RSCM Education Officer and Tutor for Music for Mission and Ministry

The course aims

  • to inspire your worship in fresh ways

  • to deepen your knowledge and understanding

  • to equip you for the future

  • to introduce you to new resources

The programme of eight sessions will cover

  • The role of music in Christian worship

  • Heritage from Judaism

  • The horns of several dilemmas, including challenges posed by Covid-19

  • A musical timeline from biblical times to present

  • Wise choices of resources

  • Parish management - how to cope with or without musicians

  • The shape of the new normal

  • Publications and copyright

The course is held in an attitude of worship and prayer, showcasing different styles and genres of music throughout the programme. We will worship together online but also signpost participants to examples of worship in a breadth of traditions and styles to prompt reflection and discussion.

Christian Values and Education in a Rapidly Changing Culture

An excellent day conference for all Christians involved or interested in Education

This sponsored event is organised by a wide range of Christian organisations and representatives from education settings around the country. The aim of the conference is to equip Christians for influencing a variety of educational settings, by discussing the most relevant issues and hearing from both practitioners and thinkers.

We are able to provide this event at a subsidised rate of £20, due to the generosity of those associated with CCFE. Our key note speakers include Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali, President of the Oxford Centre for Training Research and Advocacy, and Former Bishop of Rochester, and Peter Mitchell, who worked as Education Policy Officer for the Evangelical Alliance. We will also hear from Ron Skelton, Head at Broadway Academy, a school in a very multicultural area of Birmingham. In addition to key note speakers, there will be seminars with leading and highly experienced practitioners. We also hope to have public figures from the local area contributing.

Note: The plan is to stream this event online as well as have people present at the venue. At the venue, various measures will be in place to ensure that we are compliant with Government guidelines on public meetings. More details about how to access the live stream with be released in due course.
