Mark Yaconelli - "From Anxiety to Love"

A contemplative approach to youth ministry

“Teenagers make adults anxious. Adults make teenagers anxious. God makes everyone anxious. Maybe that’s why youth ministry suffers such high amounts of burnout?

Based on ten years of research in the Youth Ministry and Spirituality Project (and Mark’s book Contemplative Youth Ministry), this workshop engages participants in creative exercises, contemplative practices, teaching sessions, discussion, and tested strategies to help churches, parents, and youth workers develop ministries that transition from anxiety to love, isolation to community, passivity to compassionate action.”

During the day… We are gathering Church and Youth Leaders together for a day of deep teaching and application by one of the leading thinkers in Youth Ministry on the planet.

In the evening… We are inviting all volunteers and leaders to join us for a refreshing evening of storytelling, inspiration and worship. Bring your teams!

Planning and Managing Major Buildings Projects in Places of Worship

The day covers the management of all stages of a building project in a place of worship, from start up through to making sure benefits are achieved over the long term.

Presentations will include developing your vision, engaging with the wider community, fundraising, working with your architect and managing works once on site. We will also be hearing from three case studies that will tell us how it ‘really was’ and reflecting on lessons learnt. There will be a session from the Heritage Lottery Fund as well as lunchtime surgeries where individual cases can be discussed.

Come and See

During this day, we will be exploring the invitation held out to us in the Gospel to ‘Come and see’.

What does it mean to each of us to hear and respond to those words - not just once, but to constantly engage with looking further, looking more deeply and being willing to turn aside from our preoccupations in order to pay attention to God?

The day will include time to reflect on our own experiences of God, some reflections from Sr Rachel, as well as time to be alone and quiet.

Open to all, and for those who have no previous experience of quiet days and silence, guidance will be given as how to spend times of quiet.

Please bring a packed lunch. Reserve a place here or for more information please contact Sr Rachel Overton sister.rco@icloud.com
