PCC Tonight Training Evening

How's your PCC doing? Focused, fun and fruitful? Or a little different to that? Building on our popular PCC Tonight resource, CPAS is running an online event to clarify the purpose and place of PCCs and explore some common dysfunctions.

You will also be introduced to material you can use to help shape the life of your PCC back at church, including guides on how to do a PCC meeting on Zoom.

Helping our children’s work flourish during a pandemic

Among all the changes and challenges affecting our lives at present, churches have had to adapt to some very different ways of working. And we may be particularly concerned about our children’s work.

Whether we’re meeting in our church buildings or still online, it’s hard to know how to support our children and families.

Together we’ll look at how we can effectively connect with families and children, and explore ideas that could help as this season continues in uncertainty.

• Hear from Rob Parsons (Founder and Chairman of Care for the Family, author and speaker) and Andy Frost (Director of Share Jesus International, Chair of London Mission Collective, author and speaker).

• Fascinating new research findings showing what makes online children’s work effective.

• Case studies and ideas from churches who are trying new approaches and seeing opportunities among the challenges.

• How we can involve parents in nurturing their children’s faith.

• Resource ideas and practical solutions.

• Time for discussion and Q&As.

Register your interest here.

Preachers & Teachers Training

As preachers speaking God's word, getting it across matters! Of course the content is key, and if we're preaching the Bible, we've got words of life to share, but our hearers may not know that! Therefore it's very important to work hard at communication - the final preachers' and teachers' session of the year is a chance to do just that.

We're planning on meeting in person (in a covid-secure way) for this session.

Book your place here.

Deepening Discipleship Day: Love Means Love – Same Sex Relationships and the Bible

The belief that committed same-sex expressions of love may be blessed and good in God’s eyes significantly changes historic Christian teaching. How is this possible? Were we wrong? It also requires a revisiting of familiar ways of reading and interpreting scripture. Is this possible? We will explore these issues and more during the day.

February 2021

Monday 1 - Wednesday 3 February 2021

Fellowship of Word and Spirit Conference (COVID-19 permitting)

Refresh: renewing our passion for godliness

The conference will explore the theme of godliness, reflecting on how it has been understood by Christians in the past, as well as specific areas of application for today.

There will be plenty of time to consider the implications for our expression of faith in the church and how churches should address issues arising in the community. Among other speakers, Revd Mark Lucas (Vicar of St Botolph’s Church, Barton Seagrave) will be giving the conference Bible readings from Ephesians. The organisers hope that it will be a time of genuine spiritual and physical refreshment for both clergy and lay people.

We hope that many of you will be able to join us for this precious time of fellowship next year. Download the booking form here.

A 10 day Pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine

Following in the Footsteps of Jesus led by The Rt Revd Donald Allister

I hope you can join me for my next Holy Land pilgrimage. I confidently expect that it will be:

  • exhilarating
  • exhausting
  • faith-building

For those who have been with me before, this pilgrimage will be different:

  • a full day longer with more activities
  • two bases instead of three
  • starting with Jerusalem and the south, finishing with Galilee and the north

For those who have not been on such a pilgrimage, please note:

  • this is a Christian pilgrimage, and we will worship together, singing, praying, reading the Bible, and celebrating Holy Communion every day
  • you need to be physically fit, able to negotiate moderate hill walking, uneven surfaces, and many steps
  • we will be well fed with lovely Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food, but we cannot always guarantee to provide special diets.

We are limited to 50 pilgrims, so get your booking in quickly
