The Cranmer Awards - Regional Heats

The Peterborough Diocese branch of the Prayer Book Society will be hosting a regional heat of the Cranmer Awards on the 25 October 2025.

The Cranmer Awards are open to young people from all backgrounds and faiths aged 18 and under. Competitors recite passages of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.

The Cranmer Awards build confidence and ability in public speaking, as well as helping many become more familiar with the beautiful and profound language of the Prayer Book. Thousands of young people have enjoyed being part of this competition, and have valued the experience it provides.

Entrants are divided into three classes. Under 11, Juniors (11-14) and Seniors (15 – 18). Prizes of £50, £30, and £20 are offered for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class. All entrants will receive a certificate.

Winners of the Junior and Senior classes will be entered into the prestigious National Final, where cash prizes of £250, £150 and £100 are offered for section winners and runners up. This will be held on the 28 February 2026 at the Chapel Royal in Hampton Court Palace.

The Peterborough Diocese Heats of the Cranmer Awards will be held in Croughton Village Hall, NN13 5ND, on Saturday 25 October 2025, starting at 1pm.
