This is a unique opportunity to discover the history of the Palace, from medieval abbots to the funeral wake of Mary Queen of Scots. The Palace’s more recent history also includes architecture by Lutyens, and its use as a First World War veterans hospital. Rarely open to members of the public, the site of the Bishop's Palace, Peterborough has been continuously inhabited since the foundation of the abbey in the 600s, first by the successive abbots, and then by the Bishops of Peterborough. The present building contains a mixture of architectural styles from the medieval to the 1800s.
