The Bishops of Peterborough and Brixworth are supported by a central office Since the retirement of Bishop Donald Allister on 8 January both positions are held by Bishop John.
The Bishops' Office works very closely together, but each member has their own responsiblities. Here's a little more about who does what;
Steve Benoy is Chaplain to the Bishop of Peterborough. He advises and supports the bishop in all areas, particularly in pastoral and liturgical matters. He serves as the BMG lead on the pastoral care of clergy and line manages on the bishop’s behalf diocesan post holders with significant pastoral responsibility. He manages the bishops’ office team, and represents the bishop at meetings and events.
Alex Tolley is PA to the Bishop of Peterborough. She is responsible for correspondence and alongside Rachel Lomas advises and supports the bishop in his day to day work, attending meetings with him or on his behalf. She is responsible for major events, such as the Ministers' Conference, and the Bible Day. She is a member of the Bishop’s Leadership Team, is the named contact for GDPR matters in the bishops’ office and acts as secretary for the Korea Link Group. She is the first point of contact for the Clergy.
Rachel Lomas is Assistant PA to the Bishop of Peterborough She is responsible for the Diocesan Bishop’s diary (when not in Vacancy) and alongside Alex Tolley supports the Bishop in his day to day work, attending meetings with him or on his behalf as necessary. She manages the Bishops’ Office finances, distribution of grants to clergy and Palace maintenance. She is the first point of contact for Readers, lay minsters, lay workers and those wishing to be in touch with our Honorary Assistant Bishops.
Suzanne Carter is PA to the Bishop of Brixworth. She is responsible for Bishop John's diary, correspondence, attending meetings with him or on his behalf as necessary and supporting him with his day to day work including with admin for PTO, ordinations, curates, the environment and Global Majority Heritage. She manages administration for gatherings such as the Chrism Eucharist and annual Retired Clergy Eucharist and lunch. She is the first point of contact for anyone seeking permission to officiate.
