Launde Abbey has announced the appointment of Revd Anna Walker as Deputy Warden. Anna's previous role was Director of Whalley Abbey, a smaller retreat house serving Blackburn Diocese, where, amongst other things, she established their retreat programme and laid the foundations for further development of Whalley Abbey’s work. She brings experience of leading retreats and quiet days, living in a praying community, including at Taize, and leading ministry and hospitality teams. Anna, and her husband Andy, will move into the nearby village of Tugby after Christmas, starting work at the Abbey sometime in January. Details of the service of licensing will follow in due course.
Alison Myers (Warden) writes: “Anna’s experience will be invaluable as we welcome her into the senior team at Launde Abbey. I am confident that with Anna, and her husband Andy, joining the Abbey’s Community, we will be able to deepen and extend the work of the Abbey over the next few years as a place of prayer, hospitality, community and sanctuary, offering it - and us - as a significant resource to the wider Church”.
Anna writes: “It's very exciting to be joining the Launde Abbey team and community, and I see how God has been laying the foundations for this next step. Everything that's already being done at the Abbey is fantastic, and I look forward to finding my place in it and finding out together where God's Spirit is bringing about something new”.
