New team members join the diocesan offices

The Diocesan Office in Peterborough and the Diocesan Resource Centre in Northampton are here to help provide resources, training and guidance to the 348 parishes in the Diocese of Peterborough. To support us in this mission we welcome to our team Lisa Allan, Emily Elliott, Dave Battison and Haydon Spenceley. Find out a little more about each of them below.

Lisa Allan, Finance officer

My name is Lisa Allan and I started work as a Finance Officer in the Peterborough Diocesan Office at the end of June on a part-time basis.

I mainly deal with the processing of payment/receipt invoices and Parish fees returns.

My background is Finance roles within both the NHS and a local charity. I’m really enjoying the new aspects of this job and would like to thank everyone for being so welcoming and helpful. I already feel very much at home.

Emily Elliott, Church Buildings Caseworker

I am delighted to be working as Church Buildings Caseworker in the DAC with Sally, having just completed my MPhil in Heritage Studies with the University of Cambridge. I received my 1st class BA (Hons) Archaeology and Landscape History from Anglia Ruskin’s Peterborough Campus and graduated within beautiful surroundings of the Cathedral last year.

I have over four years voluntary experience within the heritage sector, including working for the Council for British Archaeology, specialising in planning and development of church buildings across the UK. My heritage career has come full circle and I am incredibly pleased to be able to work for and with my local communities and support parishes in the diocese.

Dave Battison, Parish Growth Officer

The main part of my Parish Growth Officer (PGO) role is to support and facilitate church growth and mission plans, particularly at the moment via the LyCiG initiative. I work one day per week with the Mission Team as well as being vicar for the  Staverton, Catesby and Hellidon benefice.

I can also offer a consultancy / advisor role with Pioneering, Fresh Expressions and Church Planting initiatives, having had experience in these fields previously.

Revd Haydon Spencely, Diocesan Director of Ordinands/Director of Vocation & Formation

I have enjoyed almost five months as part of the Diocesan staff. I’ve been extremely grateful to the Vocation and Formation Team and the wider Diocesan family for the way I’ve been welcomed and supported as I’ve got going. As Steve Benoy will no doubt attest, it’s a big role I have but there’s a lot of joy to be had in seeing people realise what God is inviting them to and following His leading. I also enjoy Archdeacon Richard’s daily musical entertainment immensely.
