It is with great sadness that Bishop John announces the death of The Revd Canon Helen Newman, Chaplain to Launde Abbey 2017-2021.
Helen had ministry of deep pastoral care including as Chaplain to Loros Hospice in Leicester before moving to Launde Abbey. During the pandemic her warmth and spiritual wisdom were made available online bringing her ministry to many in the wider church and beyond.
Archdeacon Alison remembers working with Helen at Launde “Helen was a holy presence whose feet were firmly on the ground whilst her words and actions of care were drawing deeply from her faith and wisdom rooted in eternity”.
Helen will be very much missed, her funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Friday 13 January 2023, at Emmanuel Church,
Loughborough. The service will be led by the former Dean of Leicester, The Very Revd David Monteith, and the Bishop of Crediton will be preaching.
All are welcome to attend and Bishop John will be representing Peterborough Diocese.
