Earlier this year St Botolph's Church, Barton Seagrave made a successful application for a Gen2 grant allowing them to make improvements to their children and youth work provision by purchasing new equipment. Between 35 – 45 children use the wonderful garden at St Botolph’s each week and it is hoped that the new equipment will mean that even more options for creative play can be offered to all who attend.
The plan was made to purchase a new outside play house and climbing cube for use by the baby and toddler group, St Bot’s Tots, and also by younger members of the congregation who attend Sunday morning services. The climbing cube is installed and proving to be a huge hit with the children. One of the mums from the congregation said “It’s such a good focus for play; Lily loves it!” Sourcing of the best possible play house, that meets the needs of their thriving group, is currently taking place, and it is hoped that it will be ‘open for business’ very soon.
Additionally, some of the grant money has been used to purchase a portable table tennis table which will be a great addition for the youth groups as their old one recently broke after years of use.
Helen Tilney, Families’ Worker, St Botolph’s Church said “We are very grateful to the Diocese for the award of this grant and we look forward to using the equipment it enables us to purchase. We are extremely grateful for your prayers as we seek to share God’s love with families in our community through our various groups.”
