Contactless Giving

Using contactless card readers is a great way to make it easy for people to give generously. You can also use these devices to take payment for fees, refreshments among other things. As a society, we are generally carrying less cash as more and more transactions are made contactlessly, so it is important that our churches enable members of our congregations and visitors to give contactlessly too.

This year, Peterborough Diocese were invited to be involved in a National Giving Team initiative. This was to introduce dioceses across the country to contactless digital giving devices. During lockdown cash became very rare and with more and more people only carrying cards, our Parishes were losing out. The scheme was to provide heavily subsidized devices to those Parishes who meet the required criteria as laid out by the National Team.

We asked Parishes to apply for the devices; out of all those who applied 52 were able to take up the offer. They received devices that would best suit their connectivity; there was a choice of four different devices. The Parishes had to sign into the initiative and commit in some case to monthly costs. The Stewardship Team oversaw the whole process. We set up webinars, sent out literature, offered training and personally delivered the devices. We continue to offer support for Parishes as they get to grips with the new technology.

Since May this year the Parishes involved have taken in over £38,000, and we look to have an annual average of £50,000. That is a huge boost to our Parishes’ economies.

Some Parishes were asked to donate a contribution to the cost, depending on the device given. With this money we reinvested and have brought another 25 devices to keep the process going.

If you want to hear more about these initiatives please feel free to contact us at the Giving Team. Paul Nuala and I are more than happy to share the burden of giving within our Diocese. We can arrange a call or visit with you or your Parish.

If we work together, we can lighten the load. Watch our video to find out more:

Easy Fundraising

In 2020 The Diocesan partnered with easyfundraising to provide an additional simple way for churches to raise additional income.

Whenever you shop online, if your church is registered with easyfundraising and you access the website where you are shopping through the easyfundrasing website, small donations will be made to your church. The more people that you can encourage to do their online shopping in this way, the more the small donations build up!

You can register your church with easyfundraising here.

Follow a webinar run by Easy Fundraising for Peterborough Diocese  which explains how it works here.

The Fundraising Toolkit will help you to get the most out of Easy Fundraising. Access the toolkit here.
