Church buildings

There are over 360 churches in the Diocese of Peterborough and over 90% of these are listed buildings. Looking after these historic church buildings can present a number of challenges, but when managed correctly they can be a real asset to your mission. With some vision and sensitivity, these wonderful buildings can be welcoming, flexible spaces in regular use by the church and wider community.

This section provides information on several topics relating to the management and upkeep of your church building.

Contact the Historic Churches Support Officer, Jon Breckon, for advice and guidance if you have any questions relating to your church building, or if you are developing a church building project:

The Historic Churches Support Officer holds Open Surgeries around the diocese every three months. These are a chance for a one-to-one chat about your building.

See the Events page for details of the next Open Surgery in your area.
