Lay Pioneer Training Taster

"Numbers are down, people come less often and we are running out of ideas, volunteers and young people - what have we got to lose!"

In changing and uncertain times there are huge challenges for all our churches - BUT there are also many opportunities and many people are open to faith like never before. Find out how to connect with the people who are searching but too shy to walk up the church path.

• Wondering how to connect with non-church goers in your village?

• Concerned that there are no young people in your church?

• Ready to try out something new - but don't know where to start?

• Want to meet others who have 'had a go'?

• Want to hear what churches have learned in lockdown about how to reach out?

This FREE Taster event for the Lay Pioneer Training Certificate Course is open to all churches and denominations. Why not check it out to see how it might benefit your church.

We are hoping to livestream the event as well as in-person training.

The evening will start with a simple meal of a Baked Potato at 7pm in the Church cafe.

If you want to bring along a friend or colleague too that would be wonderful.

Book your place on Eventbrite here.

A 10 day Pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine

Following in the Footsteps of Jesus led by The Rt Revd Donald Allister

I hope you can join me for my next Holy Land pilgrimage. I confidently expect that it will be:

  • exhilarating
  • exhausting
  • faith-building

For those who have been with me before, this pilgrimage will be different:

  • a full day longer with more activities
  • two bases instead of three
  • starting with Jerusalem and the south, finishing with Galilee and the north

For those who have not been on such a pilgrimage, please note:

  • this is a Christian pilgrimage, and we will worship together, singing, praying, reading the Bible, and celebrating Holy Communion every day
  • you need to be physically fit, able to negotiate moderate hill walking, uneven surfaces, and many steps
  • we will be well fed with lovely Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food, but we cannot always guarantee to provide special diets.

We will of course abide fully by any public health restrictions that are in place as we travel. Do be assured that Lightline will give full refunds if the pilgrimage has to be cancelled for any reason.

We are limited to 50 pilgrims, so get your booking in quickly

We will also consider how Ofsted and SIAMS evaluate spiritual development and explore how schools can go about expressing a shared understanding of their approach to spiritual development which is now a SIAMS requirement. Headteachers' Conference: Happiness, Wellbeing, Resilience, Growing and Flourishing

Happiness, Wellbeing, Resilience, Growing and Flourishing

Dr Bill Mitchell, a highly experienced clinical psychologist, whose clinical work is about rebuilding resilience in people who have been temporarily ‘de-railed’ by complex life events, will address the theme of ‘Wellbeing and resilience’, encompassing:

-     identifying personal pressures

-     recognising early signs of not coping

-     the physiology of mental fitness

-     having helpful conversations.

Richard Crellin will speak about the Children’s Society ‘Good Childhood’ report, which is a vital tool for measuring the happiness and well-being of the children and young people; it is the only report of its kind that actually asks the questions directly to children and young people, rather than to their parents and carers, and is used to inform government policy. Ian Soars will share with us the support that Fegans (a leading UK charity supporting vulnerable children and families) gives and why it is important.  Chris Whttington will lead experiential workshop you will be introduced to meditation in the Christian tradition as a simple but radically effective path to greater peace, wellbeing and community.  Through a series of short talks and periods of practice, we’ll explore:

-     forming a new relationship with life with all that offers us and throws at us

-     establishing peace in ourselves so we can be places of peace for those around us

-     taking what we have encountered out into our daily life and places of work.
