Launde Abbey are looking for an experienced Anglican priest both to play an active part in the ministry and hospitality that is based at the Abbey and to be part of the permanent praying community, living in their own cottage onsite. They will share responsibility with the Warden, Deputy Warden and other team members for the ministry and mission of Launde Abbey, and for sustaining its character as a place of prayer, hospitality, community and sanctuary. This is a part-time post for 3 days work per week in return for self-contained accommodation with utilities allowance in a beautiful rural setting, and many non-financial benefits!
With a deep personal prayer life, a good knowledge of spirituality as a subject of study and experience of leading retreats and workshops or teaching adults, the person appointed will have the following responsibilities:
To be the ‘duty chaplain’ leading services on specific days (usually 1-2/week) as agreed by rota;
To develop and deliver residential and day retreats and other content;
To share in the work of pastoral care;
To undertake some of the routine organisational tasks that support the Abbey’s ministry.

The successful candidate must be prepared to share in rota’d overnight on-call responsibilities, and weekend cover. Given the rural location you will need access to a vehicle and a valid driving licence.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to the Abbey for the evening of September 16th and to stay overnight prior to formal interviews and a viewing of the cottage on 17th September.
